SkateTech Privacy Policy

Skate Technologies LLC (“SkateTech,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) develops SkateTech Time, a browser extension designed to help professionals attribute browser-based work activity to clients and matters and reconstruct that activity into reviewable time records.

This Privacy Policy describes how information is handled by the SkateTech Time browser extension, including the current beta version.

Information SkateTech Time Handles

To provide its time-tracking and work-attribution functions, SkateTech Time processes information relating to browser activity, including:

websites and domains visited;

page titles and URLs;

dates and times of browser activity;

client and matter assignments entered by the user;

work narratives entered by the user;

session timing and related reconstructed time records;

user-selected classifications such as Personal and Unassigned; and

extension settings and activation status.

This information is used only to provide SkateTech Time’s browser activity attribution, time reconstruction, review, and export functions.

Local Storage

In the current beta, tracked browser activity and related work-attribution data are stored locally by the browser extension on the user’s device.

Excel and CSV reports generated by SkateTech Time are downloaded locally to the user’s computer.

The current beta does not use a SkateTech cloud activity database to store users’ tracked browser activity.

Information SkateTech Time Does Not Capture

SkateTech Time is not designed to capture:

individual keystrokes;

mouse coordinates;

screenshots;

clipboard contents;

passwords;

personal communications such as the contents of email or chat messages; or

payment or financial account information.

SkateTech Time does not directly submit time records to a billing system in the current beta.

How Information Is Used

Information processed by SkateTech Time is used to:

associate browser activity with clients and matters;

maintain work context as users navigate among browser tabs and websites;

reconstruct browser activity into reviewable time records;

support inactivity handling and user corrections;

allow users to review their workday; and

generate local Excel and CSV exports.

We do not use information processed by SkateTech Time for purposes unrelated to these functions.

Sale or Transfer of User Data

SkateTech does not sell user data.

SkateTech does not transfer user data to third parties except as permitted by applicable Chrome Web Store policies and as necessary to provide or support the requested functionality.

SkateTech does not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Activation and Beta Access

SkateTech Time uses activation information to determine whether a beta installation is authorized and active. Beta activation keys are validated locally within the browser extension using verification information included with the extension. SkateTech Time does not transmit the activation key to a SkateTech server for validation in the current beta. Activation status and expiration information are stored locally within the browser extension.

User Control and Retention

Users control the client/matter assignments, narratives, classifications, and exports created through SkateTech Time.

Because tracked activity is stored locally in the current beta, retention of that information is generally controlled through the extension and the user’s browser environment. Users may remove locally stored test data using the functions provided by the extension or by removing the extension and its associated local data.

Security

SkateTech uses reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the beta product. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and beta software may contain defects or limitations.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as SkateTech Time develops or as its data-handling practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will identify the current version.
